Dr. Ben Buttars

Dr. Ben Buttars is an Idaho native, returning home after training in Scottsdale Arizona. Dr. Buttars finished out as Chief Resident who joined HonorHealth Dermatology after completing his preliminary year in internal medicine in Scottsdale at HonorHealth Thompson Peak Hospital. He earned his undergraduate degree at Brigham Young University in Exercise Science. He received his medical degree from the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine, in Dothan Alabama. In his second year of medical school, he received the A.V. Jackson, DO Endowment Scholarship Award for his commitment to underserved communities in the Northwest. He graduated in 2022 as the recipient of the William Glover Distinguished Student Award for dedication to the community, after he performed numerous hours of Hurricane Cleanup after Hurricane Michael. Dr. Buttars considers himself a redneck that bushwacked his way into medicine and furthermore into dermatology. As such, he is pursuing a career that involves working in rural communities and can’t wait to come home to cattle and chickens. He discovered a knack for both surgery and cosmetics, and established the cosmetics grant program for his residency.

When he and his wife of over 10 years aren’t wrangling his 3 kids and golden retriever into a last-minute camping trip, you can find him surfing, kiteboarding, wakeboarding, paddleboarding, or snowboarding/skiing. Dr. Buttars grew up around blue-collar people, and as such is extremely excited to be working with the ever-growing community in the Meridian area.
